After intensively training as a ballerina for most of my life, I decided to leave that world behind me to take on some new adventures. Eventually I hung up my pointe shoes and found my way to NYC, where I joined the production team at a big ad agency. I soon realized though that I needed a new passion outside of work to fill that void that dancing all of those years had left, and after thinking for a bit, I decided what better way to fill a void than with FOOD!
All the women in my family cooked, but I was the least experienced of the bunch and wanted to change that. Once I moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn a few years ago, I signed up for a CSA and started experimenting with the foods I picked up each week. Not knowing what I was going to get – and often not even knowing what some of the items were – made it a fun and interesting challenge, and I decided to record my adventures here. I’m still learning but I’m definitely giving my amazing home cook older sister and pastry chef/food stylist younger sister a run for their money…
Other than cooking in my tiny kitchen in Greenpoint, I still work as an advertising producer in Manhattan and spend the rest of my free time eating even more food, traveling as much as possible, and smooching the squishy cheeks of my sweet baby niece and nephew!

Make that Potato Nest for us over Thanksgiving week!
Your recipes are amazing and interesting!
Do you have a cookbook with all these recipes in it ???
I unfortunately don’t, maybe one day though!
Hi, I live in Rhode Island and am in North Carolina making your Portuguese Boiled Dinner! Do I keep it boiling the whole time or just simmer? Thank you!!!
Hi Melinda! SO happy you’re making this! You boil the pork for 20 minutes then pour out the water and refill it with new water. Add the rest of the ingredients, bring to a boil again, then turn it down and let it simmer for one hour. Try not to stir it a ton while cooking otherwise the veggies will break up too much. Hope this helps- I’m here if you have any more questions!
Love this blog! So proud of you! Recipes look beyond delicious!
